Why Coach Websites Don't Convert

Coach websites consistently fail at the same three things — not because coaches are bad at marketing, but because the entire industry has converged on a template that quietly kills conversions.

Coach websites consistently fail at the same three things — not because coaches are bad at marketing, but because the entire industry has converged on a template that quietly kills conversions. Knowing the pattern is most of the fix.

Failure 1 — Too broad to be memorable

"I help people unlock their potential and live their best lives." This describes every coach. The visitor reads it, feels nothing specific, leaves. Replace with a sentence that names the exact problem you solve for the exact person you solve it for.

Failure 2 — Process where outcome should be

Sites describe sessions, frameworks, methodologies, certifications. Visitors don't book methodology — they book outcomes. Lead with what changes; the methodology can sit further down for the people who care.

Failure 3 — Vague testimonials

"Working with [coach] was transformative." Says nothing. The visitor's brain dismisses it as marketing. Replace with specific outcomes: "Within four months I'd had the conversation I'd been avoiding for two years and got the promotion." Specifics convert; superlatives don't.

Bonus failure — No visible price signal

Refusing to put any pricing context on the site means every enquiry is a discovery call where money has to be discussed for the first time. Showing even a starting bracket pre-qualifies and makes the call far higher quality.

Bonus failure — The about page that's actually a CV

Visitors don't want a list of certifications. They want to know who you are, who you tend to work with, what you'll be like in a session. Lead with humanity; back it with credentials.

Bonus failure — The "book a discovery call" CTA

Discovery calls are work. Many visitors won't book one for a coach they don't already know. Adding a smaller commitment step — a free guide, a self-assessment, an article relevant to their problem — converts more visitors and warms them before the call. Pillar reading: why most business websites don't generate enquiries.
