Websites For Coaches: Why Most Look The Same

Walk through the websites of fifty business coaches and you'll see roughly the same site fifty times. Same hero photo, same headline, same testimonials. The few that look different are usually the ones with full diaries.

Walk through the websites of fifty business coaches and you'll see roughly the same site fifty times. Same hero photo with the coach in a white shirt. Same headline ("transform your business"). Same vague testimonials. The few that look different are usually the ones with full diaries.

The convergence problem

Coaches buy from the same template marketplaces, follow the same Instagram advice, and end up indistinguishable. The visitor lands on a coach's site, leaves, lands on the next coach's site, can't tell them apart, and books with whoever was first or cheapest. Differentiation is the entire game.

Specificity is the differentiator

Not "executive coach" — "leadership coach for newly-promoted directors in scaling tech companies." Not "life coach" — "coach for women returning to work after maternity leave." The narrower the niche, the easier it is for the right visitor to recognise themselves.

Outcome-led copy beats process-led

"Eight 60-minute sessions, structured exploration, action planning" tells the visitor what they'll do. They don't want to know what they'll do. They want to know what they'll get. "Six months from now you'll have stopped second-guessing every decision and started running your team like the leader you're capable of being" — that converts.

Real testimonials, with full names and outcomes

"Brilliant coach!" — Sarah doesn't convert. "I went from dreading our quarterly board meetings to chairing them confidently within 3 months — Sarah Chen, Director, [actual company]" converts dramatically. Coaches consistently under-invest in capturing real outcome stories.

Photography that signals seriousness

Stock photos of strangers in suits look like every other coach. A professional photograph of the actual coach, ideally in their working environment, with thoughtful framing — instantly differentiates. The investment in real photography pays back inside a quarter.

Pricing visible (or at least bracketed)

"Investment from £4,500 for a six-month engagement" pre-qualifies leads better than "contact for pricing." Coaches afraid to put numbers up usually attract a higher proportion of unfit enquiries that waste both sides' time. Pillar reading: why most business websites don't generate enquiries.
